Clean drain with suction bell
Already the use of a classic suction bell, it’s also called “plunger”, it can help in most cases. To clean with the plunger, first give a glass of warm water with some soap in the pipe. If there is an overflow, it must be closed with a wet rag.
Completely cover the drain with the suction bell and then fill the sink with water until the red part is covered. Now push down the suction bell quickly on the handle and let it speed up to turn it down again. This creates an effect which loosens deposits in the tube.

Plastic bottle as suction bell alternative
If there is no suction bell in hand, a commercially available plastic bottle also helps. The opening of this should be about the same diameter as the drain. Fill the bottle with hot water and press it firmly onto the drain with the opening. Then press the bottle vigorously together several times in a row.
This creates pressure that causes the water to shoot through the clogged drain and thus dissolves deposits. This simple method is particularly recommended for comparatively narrow shower and kitchen drains.
If the blockage cannot be loosened, it is advisable to clean the siphon directly. To unscrew this, you need a wrench, a wire brush, a rag and a bucket. Place the bucket under the siphon to catch leaking water. Wrap the rag around the siphon nut so that no scratches occur.

On this occasion, you should also check the seals and replace them if necessary. Then screw the siphon firmly again so that no water leaks.
